I am so sick of this whole gay bashing thing! First the blacks then the Jewish people AND NOW the gay people. LET ME TELL YOU, ALL YOU GOD FEARING AND WORSHIPING PEOPLE!!!!!!! The Devil creates things for us to feud about! He cant have souls if he doesn't first break them. You CHRISTIANS AND MORMONS AND CATHOLICS ETC. Hurt people and tell them their going to burn and tell them they aren't living the path god has chosen...whatever your doing or saying to make them feel they don't belong and YOU BREAK THEM!! So YOU are working for the DEVIL! I am neither gay or lesbian I have no interest in the same sex! I am just FULL of compassion because my whole life i have had GOD, god IS my rainbow. And i have NO reason to sit around judging other people and telling them their not worth while! Only bitter and angry people would do something as cruel and sick as that!
Do i think that its okay for gay men or woman to run around in ass-less chaps or dry hump outside of their own private bedrooms? ABSOLUTELY NOT! No i don't think that's okay nor would i want to see straight couples doing the same thing. There's nothing wrong with being and feeling and acting the way you want but without self respect how can you expect others respect you? Even straight girls get bashed when they dress in short clothes or lots of make up! So if you know how people are why would you go out there and provoke their hatred. I don't think Gay bashing is right and it makes me sad. Ive always had compassion for other human beings, color and sexual orientation and religion aren't what i care about! Just because they don't believe the same thing doesn't mean their not still human beings and They deserve the right to be treated like one.
I heard my pastor say once in church "Humans are made to worship its part of our makeup some people worship their favorite sports teams. They get all painted up and scream when they score a point, Stand in line for hours in hopes that they can see their favorite singer or band." People are made to love and i think its the same thing with hate. People Are made to hate made to complain made to cry. So people will try and find ANY reason to hate other people. She looked at me funny, She cut in line etc. I don't understand why? or how in fact, how can people who know what it feels like to be different and punished for it and then turn around and punish someone else. There are tons of groups of people out there that have felt hurt and pain like Jewish, black people and Mexicans and Hawaiian people. And yet i have seen people from those groups hate gays or each other! It doesn't make any sense.
And then you have those groups who just have NO clue what it feels like to be persecuted. No idea what kind of persecution is waiting for them at the golden gates. They tell them selves their actions are justified and that god would approve. But i can promise you those are the devils servants and despite what the have told themselves or told their followers they are going straight to hell, where they belong.
Matt. 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."
Matt 7:2 "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
There are many interpretations of these scriptures but the plain and CLEAR truth of it is the more hash, judgemental and tedious you are to others is exactly how god is going to treat you
King James Version, Leviticus 18:22 is translated: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."
Though i do not believe in the persecution of gay people, I do not believe gay people have chosen the right path. That is not for me to decide and no one can force you to choose different but yourselves.There are Alot of reasons kids turn gay I have NEVER EVER seen a gay baby! Gay is a choice from a string of situations and this can be arguable i know! BUT look at families where there is no one gay present and the boy or girl has both parents who are strong responsible caring Role models! their are no gay teens there!
Dont take this last paragraph and argue with me about it! I know how alot of you feel about gay not being a choice and thats your prerogative but MY belief is that being gay is NOT of god......I just thought i should make that clear since I am having LOTS of people misunderstand the point of my Hub!
The point of this Hub is For acceptance and for people to see that hurting someone because they are different is NOT okay despite how Correct you are or think you are! In the end hurting someone is wrong according to mans law and that means..

I agree with Jane. In them is a latent fear of their own sexual orientation, not a fear of God or a sense of right or wrong. Christians are notorious for their hate concealed as love, and hypocracy disguised as righteousness. It's no surprise that many of them respond to homosexuality with such feirce and violent hatred. They are ignorant of their own religion. On the other hand, why bother trying to make them see the error of their ways? It's a complete waste of your time. It is inevitable. Homosexuals, just like any other hated minority will eventually be seen as equals and our lifestyle will be accepted. They are powerless to stop it. So let them wallow in their ignorance like they have for so many centuries (like they have concerning the rights of women, blacks,anybody that didn't share their beliefs.) I have faith that the true CHRISTIANS that live with their heart will come around and accept homosexuals. We are all humans struggling to make our way in this cruel world who need to learn to coexist, and we will. I say this with confidence because I've seen my parents do it. Hardcore Christians and homophobe's who put it all aside for the love of their gay son.

Its not that I want them to see the error of their ways by JUST reading this little comment I wrote on the subject but to keep on reading more things just like this! From Christian to Christian! And maybe what I wrote isn't Deep and meaningful and maybe means something to only me, but hopefully it can inspire someone to write something BETTER! and the Cycle can continue. People aren't just going to STOP hating gays! Until people give them a reason to! And im really happy for you, that your parents can continue to be your support, despite their previous beliefs it gives me hope. My cousin pretends to be straight and he is a happy loving amazing Christian but because its not what his parents want for him he has to continue hiding in his closet! Living life in fear and in the shadows is not fair and I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
I agree with you youngcurves19. I am Christian and people who label themselves Christian who hate gay people are not Christians. They are just folks with a label. The greatest power on the face of this earth is LOVE. We are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Jesus walked and ate with people considered out casts in his day. When we judge others, we judge ourselves. God, Is Love! Voted you up!

It is true that when people get so stuck in the Dogma of their religion, they become so blinded that they cannot see the other as a human. This is a horrible side effect of following a religion without asking questions, but religion in the Mystical/Spiritual, can do wonderful and beautiful things, because you are allowed to asked the question and to see that certain parts of religion does not make any sense and that religion follows the bias at the time of its creation (because all religions were created and written by human hands with human emotions.)
I do agree completely that people sometimes are so blinded by their own beliefs to see that its not the devil on the other side of that hate...its just a man or a woman trying to figure out who they are in life..
I normally tell people to forget about any other dogma they believe and ask themselves:
"Will God enjoy having some one like you next to him forever?"
If you hate, are mean, disrespect others, are egotistical, lack empathy, would you be a good eternal companion to anyone? Then, why would you think that you could be someone that God chooses to stay next to him or her forever?

Actually, my religion is God, no matter how any body defines Him. I guide myself by my conscience and my love for humanity. I really believe that Christianity and all other religions have been used by ambitious people to achieve their own means. Often, people simply use their religion to justify their actions. The people who torture, hurt, and kill gay people feel justified because they consider being gay evil. This way, they go and commit atrocities, but they don't think they are bad. Many of these monsters are Christian, Muslimn, Hindu, or whatever.
On the other hand,I think that if we look deeply inside ourselves, we find a direct connection with God. We don't need any religion or dogma to help us. But most people look for the answers outside of them.
Gramom1 Yes it's the sad truth that plenty of people hide behind their beliefs. Claiming their hatred comes from somewhere in particular but in reality its just their mean vindictive personalitys. Some people will.. lets face it never change. I love and preach gods word but I'm not going to hound someone else to save their soul...I tell them what I know and believe and the minute they start to argue their point I listen to what they say and just tell them "let's agree, to disagree"
We don't even have to agree to disagree. If your heart is good enough to care for the pain in other people, then it is good enough for me, no matter what your religion is. After all, all religions teach us to love others. When we are good to others, we are being good Christians, budhists, Hindues, Muslims, and whatever.

I read this hub with great interest. It is something that affects me personally and I see many people who have fallen victim to others for their sexual beliefs and identities. History is replete with victims of sexual and other kinds of oppression. Anyone - christian or non-christian can attack a man or woman because of their sexual orientation, and it saddens me. I am very heartened that you choose to raise these matters in this hub, and I appreciate you doing this.
I don't look at this from the view of being a victim, but as a human being, who can have feelings and emotions just like anyone else. I am also heartened by the comments here. Cheers.

The Abrahamic religions are the cause of gay bashing. They don't just contribute to it, they are the cause. It began so long ago that these religions have altered the culture we live in and so today it appears as if they only contribute to gay bashing, but actually they are the instigators of the the change in attitude in the predominant culture and today they keep it going by continuing to contribute to the general animosity toward gays.

Thanks nikii! yea I honestly do not believe in being gay but i dont believe in telling people how to live their lives! I have shepherded Alot of people into Christianity because I am Strong outgoing and i do not fake one once I am sincere I mean what i say every time! And My point of this HUB is for acceptance, I shouldn't even have to ask other people to accept that is their choice not YOURS and to not hurt others because of it. It does say in the bible that its not okay to be gay...... BUT it DOESN'T say in the bible bash their heads in cause their gay
Jesus saved the adultress from a sure stoning by asking "let he who has not sinned cast the first stone..."
To me if you follow Jesus you have to look into your heart and deal with what you are doing as a person. If you aren't hurting anyone then I'd say you're on the right track. If you are helping others then you are definitely on the right track. It's nobody's business who loves who. We are adults and if you don't want to have sex with someone of your own gender then don't do it. That's where it should end.
And just as a side note I do not think a ban on gay marriage is constitutional. You can't ban it on religious grounds because the government is to be neutral when it comes to religion. So what would be the legal case? I don't see it....

OMG!!! This whole thing just makes me sick to death of judgment and violence. I really get tired of hearing and seeing the damage done to others in the name of religion. I am gay. Both of my parents are extremely devout christians. both are amazing role models and both were present throughout my life and support me to this very day.
If this was a choice by your logic I shouldn't be gay. However my partner and I just celebrated our 20th year together.
